Obituary for Richard L. Lepikko

Richard L.  Lepikko
Richard Louis Lepikko, devoted + loving father, son, brother, uncle, great-uncle, nephew and cousin, passed away with family at his side on February 27, at the age of 49. His strength, positive attitude and amazing faith while battling a rare form of cancer for the past eight years, has been an inspiration and comfort to all who knew him.
Richard, a life-long resident of Potter Hill in Westerly, started working at his Dad’s company, Lepikko Builders, as soon as he graduated high school and continued with him and his brothers for over 30 years. He also enjoyed his time working in the pro shop at Winnapaug Country Club.
A member of Babcock Presbyterian Church, he was baptized there as a baby and served faithfully at various times throughout the years: Ruling Elder, Deacon, Chairman of the Building & Grounds Committee, Sunday School Teacher, Confirmation Leader, Christian Education & Evangelism and the Memorial Garden Committee.
Richard was also involved with Boy Scouts: 5 yrs. with Troop 6 and 3 yrs. with Troop 21. He had a love for cooking, gardening with his dad, camping, boating – spending time with his boys outdoors.
Richard was predeceased by his dad, John Lepikko, Sr., who passed away on January 24. He leaves behind his son Josh Lepikko and Josh’s brother Nick Giovanis; his mother Lillian Lepikko; 2 brothers, John Lepikko, Jr. + Janice and Jeff Lepikko + Diane; 3 nephews + 1 niece: Patrick Lepikko + Julie, Kristine Lepikko+ Ray, Noah Lepikko and Aaron Lepikko; and 3 great- nieces + 1 great-nephew: Harmony Lepikko, Brook Lepikko, Brianna Sisson and Korey Lepikko.
A Memorial Service to celebrate his life will be held at Babcock Presbyterian Church, 25 Maxson St., in Ashaway on Saturday, March 11, at 1:00pm. Friends and Family are invited to share and celebrate memories. The family has requested in lieu of flowers, consider a donation to Babcock Presbyterian Church that Richard loved so dearly, it will be distributed to the many committees he served on.
