Obituary for Catherine "Kay" Bressette

It is with great sorrow that we announce the peaceful loss of our dear wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother Catherine Bressette of Westerly at the age of 92 on February 4, 2023.

Kay is survived by her husband Ray; five children, Kevin, Keith (Krystina), Kraig, Kean (Kathy), and Kristin Foberg (Glenn Jr.). Additionally, also survived by ten grandchildren, Garret, Ashley, Konner, Joey, Joshua, Kaitlyn, Andrew, Korie, Kainen and Kamerin; and nine great-grandchildren, Brooks, Lennon, Harper, Charlotte, Rowan, Desmond, Karter, Mason, and Lucas; as well as her niece Beth-Ann and nephew Timothy. She was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Mary Brucker; and cherished siblings, F. Robert Brucker, Ann-Marie Trebisacci, and brother-in-law Joseph Trebisacci all formerly of Westerly.

A cheerleader and graduate of Westerly High School class of 1948, she married her devoted husband of 65 years “the love of her life” Raymond in 1958, at St. Pius X church Westerly remaining a loyal constituent.
She was employed at the New England Telephone Company (Pioneer) prior to the birth of her first child. She then shifted her energy becoming a fully devoted wife, mother and Nana nurturing her offspring’s unique abilities making each feel exclusively loved. She shared her welcoming home with both her and her children’s friends watching them grow up and sharing in exuberant times. As corroborated by her love of pineapples (the sign of hospitality). An adventurous spirit fueled by reading, she also enjoyed and excelled at tennis, painting and ceramics during her lifetime. To unwind leisurely days at the beach were a favorite.

In addition to supporting her children’s endeavors she and her spouse collaboratively took the grandkids on excursions. Her love of travel became adventures both domestic and overseas. She continued her artwork in person as she once painted Big Sur. However, she always stressed the admiration of her beautiful coastal inception that was home. Always insisting it was better to give than receive she was a long-time volunteer of the Westerly Hospital and Westerly Library reaching service milestones at each. Intelligent, stylish, and fiercely loyal a comrade and participant of “The Girls Club of WHS, Class of 1948”, meeting monthly sharing joyous gatherings and memories with her life-long companions.

Mom/Nana thank you for involving us in a life remarkably well lived deep-rooted in faith, fun, endless love, and fearless inspiration encouraging us to do the same. “Fino a quando ci incontriamo nuovamente!” We will venerate your legacy.
