Obituary for Bombina Luzzi (Cofone)

Bombina (Cofone) Luzzi, of Jovere Drive, Westerly, passed away at the Westerly Hospital on Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at the age of 88. She was the wife of Angelo Luzzi who predeceased her in 2011.

Born in Acri, Italy, she was a daughter of the late Biagio and Annunziata Cofone.

Bombina immigrated from Italy to America in 1969 with her husband, six children and one more on the way. Her dream was to make a better life for her family. Bombina was an adoring mother and “Nonnie” to her children and grandchildren. She loved to spend time and laughter with them. She held a special place in their hearts and the hearts of so many who knew her and loved her. Her greatest love in life was cooking amazing meals and filling the plates of so many who were blessed to be at her table. In the Summer she could be found in her garden where she grew much of her ingredients for cooking, jarring and sharing with friends and family. Bombina had a strong faith and was a longtime, devout communicant of Immaculate Conception Church and enjoyed attending mass and the annual feast of our Lady of Mt. Carmel. She worked for many years as a finisher for Guild Music Corp.

She will be lovingly remembered by her six children, Federico Luzzi and wife Ana, Margaret Adams and husband Eric, Biagio Luzzi and wife Laurie, Maria Kapfer and husband Robert, Joseph Luzzi and wife Maria, and John Luzzi and wife Stacie; and her four siblings, Tony Cofone, Natale Cofone, Mario Cofone and Santa Werner. Bombina also leaves behind her seventeen cherished grandchildren, Lisa Fusaro, Tiffany Luzzi, Carolina Magliari, Angela Pangilinan, Jamie Poveda, Shannon Adams, Bennett Luzzi, Brinn Castagna, Callhan Luzzi, John Luzzi, Robert Kapfer, Mathew Kapfer, Jennifer Terranova, Jillian DePina, Joseph Luzzi Jr., Ella Luzzi, and Addison Luzzi; as well as her eleven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter Nancy Luzzi; and three siblings, George and Angelo Cofone, and Maria Rose.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday from 4-7pm at Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly. Relatives and friends are also invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10am on Saturday at Immaculate Conception Church, 111 High St., Westerly.
