Obituary for Patricia L. LaFountain Stedman (Beaupre)
Patricia Louise (Beaupre) LaFountain Stedman, 86, of Stonington, CT passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 11, 2022 after a brief illness, with her husband Harold Stedman by her side.
Patricia was born in Springfield, MA to Henry F. and Anna L. Beaupre and was one of four daughters. She grew up in Springfield, MA and spent summers at the family cottage on Wequetequock Cove, where she met her first husband, Frederick L. LaFountain Sr. Frederick predeceased her in January 1993. In 1995, she met and married Harold who became her constant companion and best friend for the next 27 years.
Patricia was a registered nurse and worked for the State of Connecticut before her retirement. She had a love for animals and at different stages of her life had horses, goats, cows, chickens and of course, her beloved dogs. She was also an accomplished wood carver and blessed many of her children and grandchildren with gifts of her original work.
Along with her husband, Harold, she is survived by her three children, Frederick LaFountain Jr (Fiona), Michael LaFountain, and Roseanne Hobbs (Brian), along with her step-son Harold Stedman Jr (Cheryl). She was predeceased by her stepson, Kevin Stedman. She is also survived by one sister, Marie Goetz (Bill) along with her grandchildren Lori, Nicholas, Adam, Ryan, Mike, John, Fred, and Thomas, two step grandchildren, Marissa and Autumn, 15 great grandchildren and one great, great granddaughter.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Patricia’s memory to Hospice of Southeastern Conn.
Visiting hours will be Wednesday, September 14th from 5-7 pm at Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly. A Funeral Liturgy will be held on Thursday, September 15th at 11:00am at St Mary’s Church, 95 Main St, Stonington, CT. Burial will follow at River Bend Cemetery, Westerly.
