Obituary for Lorraine Marie Sylvia (Nadeau)

Lorraine Sylvia moved on to her eternal life with our Lord on June 9, 2022 after a courageous two year battle with ovarian cancer. She had by her side her beloved husband of 64 years George, her two sons, Gary and George Jr. and her daughter-in-law Joyce. Lorraine was predeceased by her daughter Linda (Sylvia) Schwartz.

Lorraine was born on in Orleans, VT to Emilien and Lea Nadeau. She moved with her parents to Chicopee Falls, MA where she graduated from Chicopee High School in 1957. In the summer of 1957, while visiting Misquamicut Beach, RI with friends, she met the love of her life, George Sylvia. The two were married six months later on Dec. 28, 1957 at St. George’s church in Chicopee Falls, MA.

Lorraine was proud to be a dedicated and loving stay-at-home mom, and did so until her youngest entered Junior high School in 1975. At that time, she began her career at the Pleasant View Inn and Stanton Realty where she worked for over 20 years.

She was a parishioner at Immaculate Conception Church where she had a strong devotion to the Eucharist, worshiping frequently at the 24-hour adoration chapel. She also volunteered her time and talents at the Westerly Health Center and the Immaculate Conception St. Vincent de Paul food pantry.
Lorraine’s love and dedication will be deeply missed by her husband George; her sons, Gary and George Jr.; her grandsons, Andrew and Alex Sylvia; her granddaughter Danielle Schwartz; and her daughter-in-law Joyce Sylvia.
