Obituary for Mary A. Grills (Pendola)
Mary A. (Fusaro) Grills, of South Broad Street, Pawcatuck, passed away at South County Hospital on Sunday, July 25, 2021 at the age of 95. She was the wife of the late Joseph F. “Snoopo” Grills who predeceased her in 1995.
Born in Westerly, she was the daughter of the late Angelo and Josephine Fusaro.
Mary worked for many years at the Bradford Dyeing Association before her retirement. She enjoyed watching Patriots football, Red Sox baseball, and cooking shows. She was a quiet, caring person who was devoted to her family.
She leaves behind her five children, Joseph Grills, III (Joan) of Newtown, CT, Carol Welch (Joseph) of Windsor Locks, CT, Joanne Satterlee (John) of Ashaway, Marie Grills of Groton CT, Stephen Grills (Susan) of Groton, CT. Mary is also survived by her sister Dorothy Boisclair of Westerly; eleven grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by four siblings, John Fusaro, Frank “Ningy” Fusaro, Angelo “Junie” Fusaro, and Anna Wolghemuth.
The family would like to thank Senior Resources Agency on Aging, Norwich CT, and staff and caregivers at Companions & Homemakers, Norwich, CT for providing assistance and care.
She will be especially missed by her daughter Joanne who provided her with so much care and love in her final years. She loved each and every one of her cherished grand and great-grandchildren, and took such pride in them
Family will receive visitors at Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly on Friday, July 30 from 10-11:30am, immediately followed by a funeral service in the funeral home. Burial will take place at St. Sebastian Cemetery, Westerly. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to South County Hospital in Mary’s memory.
