Obituary for Susie Desjarlais (Gaccione)
Susie (Gaccione) Desjarlais, of Dixon Street, Westerly, passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, May 30, 2021 at the age of 98. She was the wife of the late Eugene “Red” Desjarlais.
Born in Westerly, she was the daughter of the late Angelo and Anna Gaccione.
Susie worked for several years at Guild Guitar and later in the Housekeeping Dept. for The Westerly Hospital for many years until her retirement in 1988. She was a devoted Catholic her entire life. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and entertaining her family and friends at her home.
She is survived by her two daughters, Linda Binns of Westerly and Gail Hobday of Nebraska; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; eleven great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Susie also leaves her sister Josephine Feraco of Westerly and was predeceased by two sisters and seven brothers, Angelo, Pasquale, Nunizo, Benny, Richard, Sylvester ad Louis Gaccione, Mary Simister and Dominica Day; as well as her granddaughter Kim Silva.
Visiting hours are omitted. A Mass of Chrisitan Burial will be celebrated at 10am on Monday, June 7, at St. Pius X Church, 45 Elm St., Westerly. Burial will follow at St. Sebastian Cemetery, Westerly. Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly is in care of the arrangements.
