Obituary for Angeline M. Gradilone (Ligouri)

Angeline M. (Ligouri) Gradilone, 101, of Westerly, passed away peacefully at the Westerly Hospital on March 24, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Anthony J. (Tote) Gradilone with whom she shared 60 years of marriage until his death in 2008.

Born in Westerly, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Theresa (Toscano) Ligouri.

Angie was employed by the Moore Company as an inspector. Later she worked for the Yardney Corporation from which she retired.

She was a parishioner of St. Pius X Church where for many years she sang in the choir and was a member of the former Rosary and Altar Society.

Angie enjoyed carrying on many Italian traditions. Every January was soupy time, at Easter it was frittata, in the fall it was escapice and of course the Christmas Eve fish dinner just to name a few. This always involved many family members each thinking they knew the best way to do the task. She especially enjoyed the big family dinner gatherings. All these memories of being together make us rich in love of family. Thanks Mom.

She will be sadly missed by her son Edward Gradilone and his wife Joan, her daughter Joan Gradilone and her daughter Gale DeFanti and her husband Stephen, all of Westerly; her loving grandchildren, Josh (Erin) Ferraro and Jonathan (Kristi) Ferraro; her great grandchildren, Zack, Aidan, Brighton, Trinity, Khloe and Christian. She is survived by a loving sister Maria Sposato. She also leaves many nieces and nephews. Her godchildren, JoAnn Itteilag, Gary Gencarella, and Brenda Bonfiglio, held a special place in her heart. She was predeceased by her sisters, Frances Lazzaro, Nancy Spezzano, Rose Gencarella, Pauline Gencarelli and a brother Peter Ligouri.

The family would like to thank Dr. Sandoval and his staff for the many years of excellent care, the Westerly Hospital for their care during her final days, and her caregiver Cheryl Mills for her personal care and compassion.

Donations can be made in her memory to the St. Vincent dePaul Society, PO Box 1014 Westerly, RI 02891 or to St. Pius X Church, 44 Elm St. Westerly, RI 02891
