Obituary for Mary P. Ruisi (Rzeczkowksi)
Mary P. (Rzeczkowski) Ruisi, 100, wife of the late Dr. Joseph L.C. Ruisi, passed away on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at Apple Rehab Watch Hill in Westerly.
Born in Northampton, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of the late Eugene and Mary M. Gregor-Rzeczkowski.
Mary was a graduate of Amherst High School and was awarded an R.N. from Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, Pawtucket, Rhode Island. Upon completing a post-graduate program at the New York Orthopedic Hospital (now Columbia University Medical Center of the New York-Presbyterian Hospital), she returned to Pawtucket Memorial Hospital as a Nursing Supervisor in the Department of Orthopedics Services.
A busy mother of five children, Mary assisted her husband in his medical practice, did volunteer work, was active in her church and loved working in her garden.
She is survived by her son Joseph of Gardnerville, NV; daughters, Sandra and Paula Ruisi of Watch Hill; six grandchildren, Scott, James, Stephen, Maggie-Sinclair, Hannah Ruisi and Rhys Thieriot; seven great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Ruisi was predeceased by her sons, Charles and Paul Ruisi; grandson Robert Ruisi; daughter-in-law Linda Ruisi (wife of Joseph); brothers, Alan Gregor, and Eugene and Leo Rivers; and sisters, Olga R. Romero and Constance R. Vegega.
