Galeana (Franco) Ruggeri, 84, of Main Street, Hope Valley, passed away at Apple Rehab Clipper with family by her side on Thursday, December 21, 2017.

Born in Westerly, she was the daughter of the late Gaetano and Vincenza Franco.

Galeana was a classically trained mezzo-soprano in both classical opera and contemporary music who honed her talent at Seagle Music Colony in Schroon Lake, New York. She performed at many local venues and lent her beautiful voice to other special events. Her appreciation of music and the arts continued throughout her life. She loved going to Broadway musicals and was also an avid Patriots fan. Her kindness, sweetness and charm brought smiles to all she met. Galeana, loved her family and they loved her and always will.

She leaves behind her three children, Mario Ruggeri and wife Cheryl of Westerly, John Ruggeri, Jr. and wife Sheryl of Mystic and Gina Ruggeri of Enfield, CT; as well as three grandchildren, Christopher, Ariah and Learra. Galeana was predeceased by her sister Drusiana Lidestri.

The Ruggeri family extends sincere gratitude to everyone at Apple Rehab Clipper and Hope Health and the rest of the medical community involved in Mom’s care.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday from 5-7pm at Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 12 Noon in the funeral home.
