Obituary for Julia M. Groppelli (Perrone)

Julia M.  Groppelli (Perrone)
Mrs. Julia M. (Perrone) Groppelli, born in Norwich, CT, wife of the late John J. Groppelli, Sr. passed away at Royal Westerly Nursing Home on Friday, October 20, 2017 at the age of 105. They were longtime residents of Pequot Trail in Pawcatuck.

She was the daughter of the late Salvatore and Josephine Perrone.

Julia was a co-owner and operator of Groppelli’s Market in Pawcatuck with her late husband. She was a communicant of St. Michael Church in Pawcatuck.
Julia is survived by one son John J. Groppelli, Jr. and his wife Judith (Wildes) and one daughter Carol A. and her husband Raymond Allen all of Pawcatuck. In addition, she leaves two brothers, Dominic Perrone of Groton and Arthur Perrone of Norwich as well as six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Groppelli was predeceased by six brothers, Angelo, James, John, Joseph, Anthony and Epiphanio (Piff) Perrone and two sisters, Rose Tolvo and Anna Perrone.

Visiting hours will be held Westerly on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 from 5-7pm.at Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly. Relatives and friends are also invited to attend a Funeral Liturgy at St. Mary’s Church, 95 Main St., Stonington on Wednesday, October 25, 2017at 11am. Burial will follow at River Bend Cemetery, Westerly. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St Michael Capital Campaign or Home and Hospice Care of Rhode Island in Julia’s memory.
